The Day that Sound broke.

It’s been a trying few weeks.  My own energy levels seems to have dropped through the floor, whilst the energy levels of the children have increased exponentially.  I’ve been feeling more and more overwhelmed, found it difficult to concentrate, plan, think… even write.  Words feel stuck and as if I’m having word blindness.  So I’ll do my best to let them flow. I’ve put it down to a few things.  Overdoing it and not resting up enough.  Feeling pulled in many different directions.  Family and close friends going through trials and tribulations of fairly serious natures.  It’s only been a Continue Reading →

TYT Challenge – Day 6 Thoughts

Having got off to a slow start with the TYT Challenge, I’ve kept more on top of it since then.  Making time to read the emails with the daily lessons in. (Much helped by having an hour sat waiting for the eldest at Dance Class this morning with nothing else to do!). Today was a prime example of a day where I would have ended up heading home, the eldest little one “acting out” and me frazzled beyond the reaches of a strong coffee and chocolate. We missed getting to her dance class on Thursday evening, so I said we Continue Reading →

Spring Cleaning

The pre-Christmas tidy up this year was difficult.  I’ve mentioned that I wanted to undergo the KonMar method of tidying/decluttering post festivities, I just kept looking at the piles of stuff being tetris’d around and starting to pick items up thinking “Does this bring me joy?” But I resisted. And now I have to do the put it all away till next year.  The tree is down and away.  The decorations need sorting and boxing but that’s a job for tomorrow night. I’m left looking at a tantalisingly more spacious room, and all the “Stuff” is jumping out at me Continue Reading →

Integrating.

It’s been a strange Christmas so far. And its not here yet. My Dearest OH has said over the past few months that I’ve changed, but that I’m trying to fight against it.  My rather flippant retort to that was (internally anyway) of course I’ve changed, I’m now a mum to two… But something has happened I notice with the arrival of the Littlest Little One.  I find that although I may have tinges here and there of PNA (Post Natal Anxiety) at times, on a baseline with the arrival of the littlest one something else was returned to me. Continue Reading →

Move it Move it.

It was an uphill struggle.  Partly because I knew what was coming. The disappointment in myself from last week. The disappointment I heard in other people when I told them I ducked out after lap 1.  The way it just hurt so much…  The nonsense going through my head. Last week I was Little Miss Prepared.  Everything was accounted for, ready to go, all eventualities prepared for.  Clothes out ready. For me and the kids.  Breakfast out ready to go… I saw it all play out in my head. “Make it so…”.  And so it was. This time could not Continue Reading →

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

I’ve been putting off writing this blog post for about 6.5 days.  Procrastination. Isn’t it weird how these two words have the same ending….DesTINATION.  ProcrasTINATION. I could go on. A rather good friend of mine did something amazing in September.  She did the Great North Run for the first time.  She went from couch to 13.1miles in about 8ish months. Granted she did have one of the most horrible starts one could have to a year, and this is what she did with it. I’m really proud of her. I was inspired.  I watched the event on the telly box just Continue Reading →

Annette and the Birds

Well, here we have a little video of Annette. Annette has been afraid of birds, butterflies and similar flappy things since her childhood.  After having a coaching session with myself earlier this summer, yesterday we took a trip into Nottingham City Centre to go and have a look at the pigeons, whilst a couple of days earlier, she took a trip to a butterfly house with her grandchildren! In all the years leading up to this, there has never been a time when Annette would walk through “Slab Square”.  Always, her friends and family have had to trail around the Continue Reading →

“Make it so”

Well, if you’re a Trekkie you’ll have heard Jean Luc Picard utter those words several times in each episode! However, for those of you who have no idea what I just said – you will also probably understand the basic meaning behind the phrase!  Make it so. Make what exactly?  Well – “it”, whatever “it” may be. I’ve just been reminded of a couple of ‘basics’ within the NLP coaching that I do.  The first is “setting the intent” and the second is the “mind/body connection“, that we work as a whole, not two parts of the mind, and the Continue Reading →

I practise magic…

One of my other activities that I “do”, is that of Music Teacher.  One of my students, in her clarinet lesson couldn’t get a certain note to sound cleanly, unfuzzily, and without squeaking! I grabbed my clarinet from it’s perch on top of the piano, and demonstrated the technique.  To me, it was simple.  To my student, it was as though she’d seen an electric lightbulb switch on for the first time. “Wow!!! How did you do that??”  I looked at her and answered “Practise”. A quote from the Cinderella film from the 1950’s came to mind – where the Continue Reading →

Observations on Procrastination and Avoidance

I seem to have had a difficult time beginning this post. So, I’ve decided to observe my behaviour in this respect – postpone the original idea for the post, and post regarding this instead! First of all I blamed the kitchen table – for being too kitchen table like. Then the table was too high for me to type at ‘properly’ – never mind the fact that I only feel like I’m typing “properly” when typing on a “proper” keyboard, not a laptop interface! Then the chair just wasn’t ‘right’ – yup – far too kitchen chair like. Then the Continue Reading →
